In June 2011, Lourdes lost one of its most dedicated pilgrims and Group 97 lost the best of friends. If there was ever a man who represented everything HCPT stood for, it was Peter Luxton.
He first went to Lourdes in 1976 and has since made a huge impact on the lives of the children we have taken over the years.
Oliver Callaghan, who travelled with us in 2010, said:
“Peter knew lots about everything because he was always able to answer my questions and was the best helper. He was very thoughtful and caring and had a kind heart. He always told a lot of stories and was kind to me when I missed home.”
Peter will never be forgotten. Across Newport and the UK, hundreds of children will have many wonderful memories of him. He showed them everything that was important and special about Lourdes: the love, the laughter, and Our Lady.
Peter. Thank you for your years of hard work. You never missed a pilgrimage to Lourdes. You were one of the rocks of our group. You will be deeply missed, and we will all think of you when we travel to Lourdes without you.
